Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it has added Baltimore, MD to its growing list of expansion teams for the 2014 season. "Having an ABA team in Baltimore is long overdue," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "It is a great city with a tremendous basketball tradition and there's a wealth of talent in Maryland. And with the new owners, Gregory Brown, I think we have a guy who can help maximize the potential of the team." Greg Brown, Jr is a native of Baltimore and attend Lake Clifton/Eastern High School playing for future Hall of Famer, Herman " Tree" Harried. Greg finished his senior year at Continental Academy Prep in Florida. He went on to play in the ABA before playing professionally abroad. "My goal was to eventually own my own team," added Brown, "I know that we can make this the Baltimore Hawks something really special on and off the court. The Baltimore Hawks is 1 of 92 ABA (American Basketball Association) professional basketball teams playing in the USA. The Hawks will play a 30 game season beginning in early November and ending in March, with playoff in April. About half of the 30 games will be played at home, at Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore City, which has a 2000 seat capacity. Of those 30 games, half of them are scheduled for Friday or Saturday.
The games will be high energy, entertaining events, with contests, basketball trivia, celebrity appearances, an exciting dance team and of course a winning ball club! Games will include the following services and entertainment:
